First off, remember all that “Bend the universe! Hack the simulation!” stuff I was talking about in my last post months ago?! Yeah, well, the universe ended up bending me. I got Covid again right after posting that. I got really sick and it sort of started a pretty nasty series of medical health issues (including a few minor heart attacks, but really, who doesn’t have those?!). I’m doing better now. So, let’s get to the writing!
Yes! I do have a book being released on 12/20/2023! But no, it isn’t the next Paisley book. We will talk about that one in a moment.
A long while back (I think it was early 2021) I was asked by the amazing Culliver Crantz to write the penultimate book in his Thirteen Book Cursed Coin middle grade horror series for FrightVision Books. (If you don’t know FrightVision, they are similar to Goosebumps.) So I did. And it took me forever. Once I finished it was sent of to Beta readers who loved it. It was a bit dark, and there was a discussion about changing it to make it less intense for kids. I didn’t want to, and after talking with Culliver about why the darkness of the story was important to me, he agreed to let this entry into the series be the darkest yet. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. Now we sit with less than a week before release date and it will be on sale! (If I get a preorder link before the sale date I will post it on Social Media.) Shoot me a message or reply to this if you are interested in purchasing a signed copy (they will be available on my website and on TikTok, which shockingly has discounts and free shipping a lot of the time!)
(A low resolution image of the cover. It looks fantastic in person!)
Cool, huh?
Now on to some more adult matters. Paisley Mott in her next book…
In the Grave Where the Bones are Still Wet
Since we last spoke I made some progress on the next Paisley book. I finished the first draft, announced the title, finished the second draft, and sent it to Alpha Readers. So far it is getting some pretty good response from them, though there is a little confusion about some of the reveals, so I need to tighten those up, and fix a few other things. Then I will write an epilogue to finish it off and answer the questions that didn’t fit into the story. It’s a dark book. Maybe darker and weirder than I had originally thought, but I’m happy with it. Maybe I’ll share the first chapter here on my next post? What do you think?
What else is new on the writing front? Hmmmm…
I’m putting together a collection of short stories that will be published sometime in 2024. Also working on a 90s camp slasher that is a lot of fun! It’s like Friday the 13th meets Home Alone. I’m enjoying the hell out of it. Just like the last book, I will announce the title once the first draft is complete.
That’s about it, for now. I’ll update next week when Don’t Turn Around drops!
Thanks for hanging around!
